Offering Birth and Abortion Doula Services in Seattle

I now offer birth and abortion doula services in Seattle!

What do I offer as a doula?

As a birth and abortion doula, I am trained in providing emotional support during pregnancy, during labor, and during abortion procedures. I provide continuous support during labor and abortions, staying by your side as long as you need me. I am also there to support your partner(s), be they a co-parent, your parent, your friend, whomever. Together, we can make a plan for how to make your birth or abortion experience positive and empowering.

I am a sounding board for navigating the medical system and thinking through medical decisions. I have worked in public health research alongside healthcare providers for many years now. With the perspective and knowledge I have gained through that experience, I can help you consider your options.

I have tips and tricks for managing pain and anxiety, including easy massage techniques (which I will teach your partner), rhythmic movement, and yoga stretches. If you are giving birth, I also have tips for helping a vaginal birth to progress faster, including positions you can take to help rotate a baby, and movement. I am a long time yoga practitioner, so most of my techniques are based in movement and body awareness.

It can be difficult to ask for help, especially after a baby is born. I will organize your family/friends/community to provide a food and/or chore train after delivery to deliver meals and/or do those chores that are so difficult to get to when you have a new baby.

I am not a healthcare provider, so I won't be taking your blood pressure, prescribing medications, advising you in your medical decisions, or catching the baby.

My Ethos

Your body, your choice.

That includes having a baby, having an abortion, giving birth vaginally, taking advantage of all of the drugs, giving birth via cesarean section, etc. You are in charge. I am your cheerleader.

Not all people who give birth are women.

I support QTLGB individuals and families in their reproductive journeys.

It takes a village to raise a baby.

As a doula, I am here to support the pregnant person, as well as their partners, families, and friends. I do that by engaging partners, friends, and families as much as the pregnant person is comfortable.
